The Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) is a free government-funded service, based in Wandsworth, to help the local community solve their disputes and problems and prevent their disputes developing into legal problems which end up in court.
Disputes are often complicated and confusing, making it difficult to focus on the main issues which can prevent solutions being found. This can lead to unnecessary stress and worry.
The DRS aims to provide a real alternative to the small claims track in the county court.
Going to court can often take up to six months to get a decision from a judge. It can often be stressful and time-consuming. Our caseworkers and service manager will listen to you and give you free, impartial and confidential advice about the best way to resolve your dispute. If you ask them, they will even get in touch with the person or organisation you are in dispute with and try to negotiate a resolution that is acceptable to everyone concerned.
If you choose to use the Dispute Resolution Service you remain in control. We will not make a decision, at every stage, YOU decide what to do. Our aim is to get an agreement that will make the dispute go away.
The DRS is open to everyone to use, even if you have started the court process.
